Scott Goedde Obituary

Scott Michael Goedde, 54, of Houston, TX, formerly of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan, TX, on March 15, 2024. He was born to Andrew and Marcia (Schneider) Goedde on September 15, 1969, in Evansville, IN.

Scott grew up in Haubstadt, IN, where he was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  He graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1987 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. While in college, he spent one year in Germany as a foreign exchange student, where he acquired a love for yodeling. He worked as a chemical engineer for several companies including AkzoNobel, Nouryon, LCY Chemical Corp., Exxon Mobil, and Honeywell Electronic Chemical where he met many supportive friends. In his leisure time, Scott had many hobbies. He attended several Sommerfest Biergartens, enjoyed the outdoors, bicycling, motorcycles, hunting with his sons, growing orchids, and extensively decorating for every holiday, especially Halloween. You might say he was an amateur special effects artist. Scott is a member of the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, TX, the Bold Catholic Men’s Group, and the Houston Orchid Society.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Jianfang “Freda” Goedde of Houston, TX; 2 children, Nicholas Goedde of College Station, TX and Michael Goedde of Houston, TX; parents, Andrew and Marcia Goedde of Haubstadt, IN; siblings, Nita (Bill) Reynolds of Evansville, IN, Sharon (Shane) Horne of Haubstadt, IN, and Tom (Julie) Goedde of Haubstadt, IN, sister-in-law, Jianqun “Emma” (Jason) Ostwald of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law Jingjing Zeng, brother-in -law Jianfeng Zeng and Liu Ying, mother-in-law and father-in-law Baomin Zeng and Cuilan Peng of Wugang, Hunan, China; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Scott's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the hospital staff, and Scott's work and church families, and friends who reached out and supported the family with prayer and assistance though this difficult time.
