Shawn Lee Vaughn, 66, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, on March 5, 2024. He was born to the late Don and Dolores (Lamey) Vaughn on June 28, 1957, in Evansville, IN.
Shawn attended St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt and was a life member of the Southern Indiana Antique Machinery Club. He graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1976. He retired from the Gibson County Highway Department in 2019 with 41 years of county service. Shawn enjoyed collecting antique tractors and military relics. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew Isaac, having lunch with his buddies at the senior center and taking the occasional ride in his 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. He was a kind and gentle soul who never met a stranger, a real people person. He will be truly missed by all his friends and family who loved him.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, David K. Vaughn.
Surviving him is his sister, Judy (Tony) Hipp; step-mother, Brenda Vaughn; extended siblings, Ryan (Jen) Vaughn and Melanie (Dan) Dyer; aunt, Norma Regener; uncle, Gene Burger; nieces and nephews; Isaac (Menghan “Terry”) Lewis, Megan (Clay) Campbell, Daniel (Megan) Hipp, and; cousins, Tammy (Jim) Miller, Ed (Patty) Regener, and Lori Jenkins; great nieces; Millie Campbell, Eden Campbell and Kaliana Hipp; also his 2 cats, Mercedes and Squealy.
Funeral services will be on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN, with Father Kenneth Betz as celebrant. Visitation will be on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Committal services will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Haubstadt, IN following funeral services. Donations in his honor can be made to the Gibson County Animal Services.
