Dorothy stepped over into heaven on September 10, 2019. Dorothy was born to Michael P. and Julia Marie (Naas) Kiesel on October 15, 1928 in Fort Branch, Indiana. Her faith in God led her in life and in her peaceful transition to the next life. Dorothy took great pleasure in life, always smiling, always happy, always ready for the next adventure. She loved to travel, see new places and meet new people. Dorothy loved music and to sing as she worked. Lyrics were never a concern; she just inserted her own as needed. Dorothy inspired happiness in everyone she met. She was at all times a gracious lady.
Walter Knapp was Dorothy's lifelong love and her husband of 62 years. He made his journey to heaven 10 years ago. Dorothy filled the last 10 years with family and friends. Her wonderful lady friends filled her life with love and laughter; they played cards, tried new restaurants, and went to church activities together. She also loved going on vacation with her family, it did not matter when or where as long as they were together.
Dorothy and Walter lived on a farm in Haubstadt where they raised 8 children who loved them dearly; Connie (Tony) Goedde, Kathy (Roger) Hall, Bill Knapp, Rick (Vicky) Knapp, Helen (David) Dilbeck, Debbie (Eddie) Van Buren, Peggy (Duane) Elpers, Joe (Kathy) Knapp. She has 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
They family worshipped at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Daughters of Isabella and the St. James quilters.
