Alvina A Reuber 92, of Evansville, IN,formerly of Fort Branch IN, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Evansville, IN. She was born on April 13, 1918 to the late Ben and Margaret (Wilm) Oing in Haubstadt, IN. She lived the majority of her life in Ft. Branch, IN. She moved from Haubstadt to Ft. Branch at the time of her marriage to Bob Reuber in 1941. They built two homes in Ft. Branch and raised their family there until 2000, when for health reasons, they moved to Evansville to be closer to their daughters. Alvina was typical of her day in that she was the "Heart of Her Home...A Stay At Home Wife and Mother." She was a great advocate of the "Family Rosary," and we, her children, remember it being a daily happening at our home, whether being prayed while doing the dinner dishes or riding in the car, it was a part of each and every day of our youth. She was a true believer in the saying, "Cleanliness is Next to Godliness," and cleaned accordingly. She loved music and sang Alto in the Holy Cross Church choir for many years. She was also a great lover of children and spent some years assisting in the Holy Cross School cafeteria. She was a great cook and pastry chef and this was one more way she could cook and be around more children. She was a charter member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, a member of the Holy Cross Altar Society, Legion of Mary, and the Daughters of Isabella. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bob Reuber on October 31, 2005. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: John Oing, Melvin Oing and Ed Oing; two sisters: Lorene Oing and Elnora (Oing) Hisker; also a son-in-law, Jim Mead and a great-grandson, Collin Reuber. She is survived by four children: Sue Mead of Evansville, IN; Dave Reuber and his wife, Pam of Dayton, OH; Stan Reuber and his wife, Diane of Plano, TX; and Sharon Kutzler and her husband, Keith of Evansville, IN. There are 12 grandchildren and their spouses: Barry Mead and his wife, Krista; Robert Mead; Michelle (Mead) Neuenschwander and her husband, Randy; Eric Reuber and his wife, Patti; Laura (Reuber) Shindlebower and her husband, Wade II; Chad Reuber and his wife, Kristi; Kyle Reuber and his wife, Erin; Matthew Reuber; Dustin Reuber and his fiancee, Kalina Seddio; Kori (Kutzler) Robinson and her husband, Isaac; Emily (Kutzler) Hamilton and her husband, Heath; and Kasey Kutzler. One brother also survives her: Cletus Oing and his wife, Faye, in addition to a sister-in-law, Winnie (Mrs. Melvin) Oing, along with many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express special thanks to those special caregivers at Sterling Assisted Living and Good Samaritan Pathways I and Pathways II. These people helped mother in so many ways and were always trying to make her last years better. God saw that she was getting tired, and the cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered---Come with me. With tearful eyes we watched her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating. God broke our hearts to prove to us...He only takes the best! Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 P.M.
