Anna Jane Greubel, 93, of Haubstadt passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at Heart to Heart Hospice. Jane was born on October 26, 1932, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Raymond and Catharine (Will) Breivogel.
Jane and her belated husband Adolph enjoyed their family and friends and kept a busy social calendar with visits to the casino in French Lick, dining out especially at the Log Inn, and playing clabber. She belonged to a clabber card club for many years. Jane loved to watch college basketball, especially IU. She made delicious vegetable soup, chili, angel food cake with caramel icing. She also took pride in keeping a clean and tidy home.
She was a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella, the St. James Altar Society, and a lifelong member of St James Church. Jane graduated from the Academy of Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, class of 1950.
Jane has 4 daughters; Sandra (Jim) Beierlein of Evansville, Vickie (Dave) Fortune of Terre Haute, Connie (Jeff) Huff of Haubstadt, and Jude (Eric) Williams of Evansville. She has 10 grandchildren; Kristi Meyer, Brooke Wilke, Damon and Troy Fortune, Emily Schmidt, Bryce and Abbie Huff, McKenzie Killian, Evan and Patrick Williams. Her family circle extends to 15 great-grandchildren who were a source joy to her. Jane was married to Adolph Greubel for 66 years before his passing in 2018. Also survived by her lifelong friend and neighbor, Gayle Betulius.
She is also survived by her siblings Jim (Mary) Breivogel, Shirley Haley, and Mary Jo Rexing. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, whose memory she held dear throughout her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt at 10:00 a.m. with Father Kenneth Betz as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with a recitation of the rosary starting at 3:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until mass time. Burial will follow mass at St. James Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to North River Health Campus, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Deaconess ICU.
