Obituary

Betty J. Gwaltney, died 10 days shy of her 98th birthday on August 10, 2020 at River Oaks Health Campus.  Betty was born to the late Arthur Luke Robinson and Olive (Stewart) Robinson on August 20, 1922 on the farm in Fort Branch. She was the last living member of the class of 1940 from Fort Branch High School.

She married Lawrence Gwaltney on July 12, 1941. They shared almost 72 years together. They traveled extensively.

She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Betty is survived by her sister, Jessie Ann Adler of Terre Haute, IN and 10 Nieces and 6 Nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Gwaltney one brother, Kenneth Robinson, Genevieve Crook, Mary Francis Schmit and Louise Robb.

She retired from Potter and Brumfield in the engineering department.

Services for Betty will be on August 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with Reverend Dave Worthen and Reverend Corey Atkins officiating.

Visitation will be on August 12, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again from 9:30 to time of service at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lord's Pantry, Fort Branch Gym or to the Charity of your choice.
