Brenda Sue Sands, 64, of Fort Branch passed away on January 2, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Brenda was born on October 9, 1960, to the late Robert Lee and Jeanette Sue (Underhill) Schaefer in St. Meinrad.

Brenda met the love of her life almost 30 years ago, Robert Sands whom she married on January 12, 2018. She graduated from Bosse High School. She was the cook and cafeteria manager at Gibson Southern High School for several years from 1998 until she was forced to retire because of her illness. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping and was an amazing planner and coordinator for the Underhill family reunions.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Robert Sands; 3 children, James Lassack of Jacksonville, FL, Angie (Dale) Moore of Fort Branch, and Shannon (Tom) Schmits of Fort Branch; 5 grandchildren, Parker and Taeley Lassack and Jordan, Madisyn, and Kyndra Wright; 3 great-grandchildren, Macie, Jaxson, and Maddox; brother-in-law. Randy (Pam) Sands of Francisco; sister-in-law, Kathy Schaefer of Aromas, CA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Little Bit and Biggin.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Lassack; and 2 siblings, Elaine Carter and Donald Schaefer.

A celebration of life for Brenda will be held at a later date.
