Obituary

Carlos J. Wilkerson, 90, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN, on June 21, 2023. He was born to the late Joseph and Rena Wilkerson on March 21, 1933, in Fort Branch, IN.

Carlos graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1951. He was in the United States Army for two years before he was honorably discharged and began working at Potter and Brumfield in Princeton, IN. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Kelley, on March 29, 1974. Through years of hard work and determination, Mr. Wilkerson retired after 42 years as a model maker in engineering with the same knowledge and benefits as the college educated engineers on staff. He was a member of the American Legion Post #194. His love of working on cars and watching NASCAR culminated in him building a stock car that raced at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt for ten years.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a step-son, Kelley Brett Crawford; brother, Mickey Wilkerson; and brother-in-law, George Miller.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Wilkerson of Haubstadt, IN; children, Carla (Gerald) Sprinkle of Evansville, IN and Teresa (Mark) Bohnert of Newburgh, IN; stepchildren, Jane (Michael) Parker of Haubstadt, IN and Robert B. Crawford of Fort Branch, IN; grandchildren, a sister Betty Mille of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren; Jason (JoAnn) Dilbeck, Jerrad (Dana) Sprinkle, Jamie (Kevin) Angermeier, Nicholas Parker, Kari (Shane) Wright, Cody (Anne) Schmit, and Cale (Kacy) Schmit; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Pastor Corey Atkins officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Stodghill Funeral Home. Military Honors will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
