Carol Sue (Menke) Singer, 66, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. She was born September 14, 1951 to Margaret (Kuhlenschmidt) and Vernon Menke, Sr. in Elberfeld, IN.

Carol graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1969 and attended ISUE. She married Tom Singer on September 3, 1981. She retired in 2016 from Duke Energy (formerly PSI and Synergy), where she was Head of Budget Analysis. Carol enjoyed watching IU basketball and football, attending Reitz football and baseball games, reading, sewing, doing puzzles, going to movies, and Menke family lunches.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lloyd Menke.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Joseph Singer of Haubstadt, IN; dog, KC III; siblings, Vernon Menke, Jr. (Barb) of Chandler, IN, Richard Menke (Alice) of Chesapeake, VA, Michael Menke (Marla) of Haubstadt, IN, Dennis Menke (Donna) of Elberfeld, IN, Beth Euler (Dirk) of Evansville, IN. Also surviving are several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and her good friend, Lana Trumpey, who introduced her to Tom.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Hannah, Tiffany, Jillian, Rita Winters, Dr. Bottles and the rest of the staff of Deaconess Gateway ICU B for the extraordinary care they provided to Carol and the patience and compassion shown to her family.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Stodghill Funeral Home, 500 E. Park Street, Ft. Branch, IN from 2:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, October 17 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM with the service immediately following, officiated by Father Tony Ernst. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Haubstadt, IN.
