Charlene Marie McClellan, 69, of Owensville, Indiana, passed away on February 13, 2025, at her home. She was born on November 17, 1955, in Princeton, Indiana, to the late James Edward Straw Sr. and Loretta Jean (Richardson) Straw.

Charlene attended Princeton High School until her senior year, when she transferred to Owensville High School. She graduated with the class of 1974. Her greatest joy came from her relationship with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, spending time with her family, weekly bible studies, and having coffee with friends. Charlene loved worshiping and praising God, reading the Bible, and listening to old church hymns. She had a passion for feeding people and collected numerous cookbooks and recipes. She served in the kitchens at South Gibson Apostolic Church and Maumee General Baptist Church.

Charlene was always involved in Owensville community events, such as dressing as an elf and passing out reindeer food to children and making homemade cobblers to sell at the Owensville Watermelon Festival. Her love for children stemmed from the kindness she experienced as a child through the Good News Club at Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton. As an adult, she continued that legacy by being a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, and also assisting with Dayspring Community Church, bringing the Good News Club to Owensville Community School.

One of her proudest moments was participating in the Church of the Nazarene Bible Study and Quizzing in 1972. She cherished her family and often spoke fondly of her "brothers and sisters" at TJ Maxx, where she worked for 33 years before retiring.

Charlene left this life knowing she was entering a new season. She felt thankful and blessed and appreciated that God included her, "this wee speck," in His great creation.

Charlene is survived by her children, Lori (Darin) Hupp, Heather (Jason) Thomas, and Kaitlyn (Steven) Parker; her siblings, Jim (Bonnie) Straw, Mark Straw, and Danny Ray (Carolyn) Straw; her grandchildren, Cale Thomas, Cody (Hailey) Hupp, Logan Hupp, Mackenzie Hupp, Cole Thomas, Khloe McClellan, Kylie McClellan, and Jemma Parker; her former spouse, Robert "Fred" McClellan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James (Marjorie) Straw and Loretta Jean (Richardson) Straw, as well as her partner, Gene D. Barrett.

Services will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Apostolic Revival Church, formerly known as South Gibson Apostolic Church in Owensville, IN. Service will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a come one come all old-fashioned church carry in dinner. Please join us for a day of remembrance, community, and fellowship in honor of our mother.
