Charlene Ann (Titzer) Lamey, 85, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away January 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Elberfeld, IN, on October 26, 1938, the youngest child of the late Charles and Ellen (Welte) Titzer.
She was a 1955 graduate of Mater Dei High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph Lamey on July 21, 1956, and together they had 4 beautiful children.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Alter Society. She retired from ownership of L & L Liquors in 1998. She was a past volunteer of Bread of Life, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Anthony Clothes Closet. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, and vacationing in the mountains of North Carolina.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lamey; brothers, Floyd and Melvin Titzer; and sister, Lucille Cameron.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Joe Lamey of Haubstadt, IN; children, Kim (Jim) Dunkelbarger and Sara (Jack) Field both of Haubstadt, IN, Monty (Debbie) Lamey of Owensville, IN, and Shelly (Tony) Smodilla of Terre Haute, IN; 10 grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Claybrooks, Kelli (Derrick) Coy, Abby (Adam) Adler, Stephanie (Jarrod) West, Aaron (Sarah) Field, Joseph (Emily) Lamey, Justin (Jackie Esenbock) Lamey, Erika (Jesse) Horstman, and Tony and Addison Smodilla; and 14 great grandchildren, Drew, Paige, Hayley, Hannah, Harper, Hadlee, Jackson, Eden, Camden, Jonathan, Ellison, Claire, Stella, Mitchell, and baby Lamey due any day.
The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, especially LaDonna, Jennifer, Jaci, and Adam for their kind and compassionate care of Mom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Andrew Thomas as celebrant. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN, and again on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until mass time at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rosary services will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The committal service and burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Haubstadt, IN, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in her honor can be made to Habitat for Humanity or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
