Charles "Charlie" Edward Freudenberg, age 94, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN, on September 4, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1931, in Snake Run, IN, to the late Walter and Mary (Wilkins) Freudenberg.
Charlie honorably served in the United States Army prior to his tenure with Emge Meat Packing in Fort Branch. He subsequently worked as a coal miner for P-V in Huntingburg, IN, for several years, followed by employment as a valet at Evansville Airport. He was an active member of Fort Branch VFW Post #2714 and Elberfeld American Legion Post #351.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Freudenberg, Joanne Maikranz, Carolyn Sue DeShields, and Anna Kempf; his daughter, Pam Long; and grandchildren, Cody Combs and Nora Grabbe.
He is survived by his companion of 43 years, Linda Johnson of Haubstadt; children: Marvin (Rita) Freudenberg of Lynnville, Melvin (Tina) Freudenberg of Elberfeld, Mary Helen (Neil) Riley of Sommerville, Michael (Sara) Freudenberg of Francisco, and Mona (David) O'Connor of Orland Park, IL; brother, Roy (Becky) Freudenberg of Snake Run; grandchildren: Morgan, Kelsea, Axel, Kix, Sara, Erin, and Dalton; and great-grandchildren: Christian, Hannah, Ella, Bryer, Demi, Andi, Baren, Forrest, and Addison.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Military honors will follow at Providence Cemetery in Francisco, with participation from Veterans of Gibson County. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
