Obituary

Charles Otho McConnell,60, of Mount Vernon, IN, passed away at River Bend Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Evansville, IN, on May 29, 2024. He was born to the late Howard A. and Patricia Ann (Ice) McConnell on April 30, 1964, in

Evansville, IN.

Charles was raised in a Catholic home. After serving his country in the United States Army, he became a truck driver. He married Lisa Spicer on August 28, 2020, after 10 years together. Affectionately known as "Redneck Pawpaw", he made sure to always give his children and grandchildren a loving fist bump. He was a jokester who loved to fix cars, go deer hunting and fishing, and watch NASCAR and wrestling on tv. He was a big fan of many Chicago sports teams including Cubs baseball, Bears football, Bulls basketball, and Black Hawk hockey. For college basketball, he enjoyed watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He was loved so very much by his family and will be truly missed.

Besides his parents, he is preceded by his sister, Gina Forbes.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, whom he has spent 14 wonderful years, Lisa McConnell of Mount Vernon, IN; 7 children, William (Alysha) McConnell of Evansville, IN, Patricia McConnell of Evansville, IN, Shane (Madison) McConnell of Evansville, IN, Brooklyn McConnell of Lexington, KY, Dade McConnell of Evansville, IN, Amanda (Terry) Warren of Crossville, IL, and Derek (Sarah) Spicer of Crossville, IL; siblings, LaDonna (Marshall) Brown of Diamond Head, MS, Kimberly (Tom) White of Diamond Head, MS, and Attonia Chaney of Las Cruses, NM; 9 grandchildren, Mallory and Malayla McConnell, Saleen Kammerer, Gideon McConnell, Hunter and Riley Warren, Tyson Spicer, and Abie and Alec Garner, and a very special dog, Charley Ann.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from noon until service time at the funeral home. Charles will be cremated after services with a burial to be at a later date. Donations in his honor can be made to Stodghill Funeral Home to offset burial costs to the family. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
