Clemens Andrew Baehl, age 82, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, on August 12, 2025. He was born to Leroy and Cecelia (Schaefer) Baehl on April 20, 1943, in Fort Branch, IN.
Mr. Baehl graduated from Fort Branch High School and continued his education at Kentucky Wesleyan College. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Oakland City University and a master's degree in education from Indiana University. On May 27, 1967, he married Mary Beth Wannemueller, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage and two children. Clem was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN. His career as an educator spanned 33 years within the East Gibson School Corporation, and he also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul. Clem enjoyed travelling, boating, and camping with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Sister Mary "Anisia" Baehl, Sister Mary Leah Baehl, Norma Lee Goedde, Vincent Baehl, Daniel Baehl, and Stephen Killian Baehl; sister-in-law Shirley Baehl; and brothers-in-law Melvin Goedde and William Tuley.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Baehl of Haubstadt; daughters Amy L. Baehl of Bedford, IN, and Lori B. Baehl of Louisville, KY; siblings Robert (Martha) Baehl of Evansville and Diane Tuley of Evansville; sisters-in-law Debbie Baehl of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Lynn Baumgart of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, with Father Phillip Rogier officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch and again on Saturday, August 16, from noon until service time at the church. The rosary will be recited on Friday, August 15, at 3:30 p.m., preceding visitation at the funeral home. Entombment of ashes will take place at a later date at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Sisters of St. Benedict and St. Vincent de Paul. Online condolences may be expressed at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
