David Lee Anderson, 59, of Owensville, IN, passed away in the place he loved, in the woods of Upper Hills in Griffin, IN, on August 18, 2024. He was born to Ronnie Paul Anderson and Shiela Ann (Carner) Hargis on September 8, 1964, in Oakland City, IN. David retired from the United States Army after 15 years of service. He was an avid gun hunter of squirrels and birds and enjoyed hunting for arrowheads. He most recently started getting back into playing video games with his brother and they cherished those times together. David is preceded in death by his stepfather, Freddy Hargis.

He is survived by his parents, Ronnie Anderson of Owensville and Sheila Hargis of Owensville; his sons, Paul Anderson and Timothy Anderson both of Clearwater, FL and their children; brother, Dustin Anderson of Owensville; niece, Layne Anderson; aunts and uncles, Dennis Carner, Cynthia and Larry Harris, Melissa and Jim Ruba, and Tammy and Joe Stolz; special cousin, Shelly Nicholson, several other cousins including, Nicole Caniff, Haley Broadway, Jacob Kinnard, Sydney Thurman, Tabi Thurman, Janice Allen, Nancy Tucker, and Dean (Linda) Deal; and his canine companion, Penny.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with Larry Harris officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. His ashes are to be scattered in a place he loved at a later date.
