Obituary

David Harold Meny, 83, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN, on May 14, 2025. He was born to the late Joseph and Flora (Singer) Meny on December 1, 1941, in Haubstadt.

Dave enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama shortly before the Vietnam War. He married Mary Margaret Baehl on September 11, 1965, and together they had three children. He worked as a glazer for 43 years, including employment with Central Glass and Evansville Glass and Glazing. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Painters and Glaziers Union 1165, American Legion Post 696, the Knights of St. John #345, and VFW Post 2714.

In his leisure time, Dave enjoyed fishing, boating, mushroom hunting, traveling to attend dirt track races all over the country, and participating in demolition derbies at Tri-State Speedway, where he won the 1972 Demolition Derby Championship with his Cadillac. Known for his sense of humor, he often shared jokes and his "Dave Menyisms" with those around him earning smiles with his distinctive crooked smile. He took great pride in being a father to three daughters, who were affectionately called his "all-girl crew" when he took on side jobs involving siding and windows. He cherished their involvement in every aspect of his life. His favorite pastime was fishing, mentoring and spending time with his Grandson, Gavin "Fish Hook" and visiting local establishments to socialize and enjoying a cold drink with friends.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Lawrence "Jack" Meny, Beverly Kaelin, James Meny, John Richard Meny, Shirley Romershausen, and Jerry Meny.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Meny of Haubstadt; daughters, Sheila Meny of Evansville, Jaynell (Chad) Dix of Fort Branch, and Kim (Greg) Fogle of Owensville; Grandson, Gavin Fulcher and brother, Joe (Ruthie) Meny of Griffith, IN, Aunt Magdaline Meny, Evansville, and many nieces and nephews .

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dave's caregivers, Kelli, Jamie and Lynn for their kind and compassionate care.
