Obituary

Donald Keith Newcome, 76, of Owensville passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 1, 2024. Keith was born on April 21, 1948 in Princeton to the late Joseph and Marilyn (Vaught) Newcome.

Keith married the love of his life, Wilma Groves, on January 28, 1989, although they were together for 10 years prior to marriage. He graduated from Owensville High School in 1966 and went on to Vincennes University to earn an associate's degree in engineering. He worked as a construction supervisor for INDOT for 44 years and retired in 2012. Keith was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a past Worshipful Master of the Princeton Masonic Lodge #231, a lifetime member of VFW #2714, and the Owensville American Legion #51,  member of the Vietnam Vets, Sheriff's Association and Vincennes University Alumni Association.  Being a Veteran was close to Keith's heart, and he attended Events as often as he could that the VFW held. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family. He was often found either doing a crossword puzzle or reading books to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing puzzles, go-fish, eating candy orange slices with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and watching The Andy Griffith Show. Keith was known by many friends as "Nuke" and was quite the jokester.   Keith is preceded in death by a brother, James Kent Newcome and a granddaughter, Tabatha Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Wilma Newcome of Owensville; children, Sherri Hardiman of Hanover, IN, Lori (Matthew) Werner of Evansville, and Amy (Joshua) Wilkerson of Owensville; grandchildren, Joseph Newcome, Brittani Prater, Jennifer (Robert) West, Philip Wilkerson, Gavin Werner, and Lilly Wilkerson; great grandchildren, Brenton Farmer, Ella Prater, Juliana Linder, and Nova West; sister-in-law, Becky Newcome of Owensville; an aunt, Claire Vaught of Florida; and several cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Stodghill Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Douglas officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday December 9 at the funeral home.
