Donald Dean Throckmorton, 93, of Stockbridge, GA passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 9, 2025.
Dean was born on February 3, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late Denzil and Leona (Brown) Throckmorton.
Dean was a man with many talents. In addition to being a pipefitter by trade, early in his life he became an accomplished upholsterer and builder of several beautiful stain glass pieces. However, in the last 40 years his favorite hobby was woodworking. He was a member of a woodworking guild where for several years he took home 1st place prizes for several different types of woodworking pieces. Toward the end of his life, he started doing intarsia woodworking and created some of his best work. He loved throwing horseshoes and placed well in the tournaments that he played in. For years he helped organized the horseshoe tournaments in the Orlando area and they even called a tournament after him (The Throckmorton Throw Down). He also loved playing cards over the years with his best friend Etta Redd.
Dean is survived by a son, Gary Throckmorton of Stockbridge, GA; 6 grandchildren, Micah Throckmorton, Courtney Cuneio, Megan Spinks, Joshua Throckmorton, Dina Brackett, and Robert Paulsen; great grandchildren, Daniel Negron, Jeremiah Negron, Angelica Negron, Melanie Oviedo, Hector Oviedo, Freedom Paulsen and Logan Dean Paulsen; great great grandchildren, Aubrie Negron, Genevieve Negron and Finley Dean Roberts.
He is preceded in death by, his loving wife, Billie (Teel) Throckmorton; a daughter, Jana Paulsen; and 2 siblings, Betty Cedars and Denzil Throckmorton.
