Obituary

Donnavie Lou Straw, 85, of Owensville, IN, passed away at the Good Samaritan Home and Rehabilitative Center in Oakland City, IN. She was born on January 26, 1940, in Owensville to the late Allie Wayland and Maude Blanche (Jones) Coleman.

Known to many as "Granny Grunt," Donnavie was a dedicated member of the Owensville General Baptist Church, serving as janitor for 30 years. In addition to her work at Montgomery Manufacturing, she was employed for several years alongside her daughter, Lana, at the Get-N-Go gas station. Mrs. Straw took great pride in maintaining not only her own floral gardens but also those located at the town square in Owensville. Her efforts were recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Owensville Watermelon Festival in 2000 and most recently as the winner of the Mother's Day contest held by the Owensville Community Planners. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, often preparing decorated cakes for various occasions. In later years, she spent time watching her favorite television programs and enjoying sweet treats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Arva Overton; her daughter, Lana Boyle; and great-grandson, Isiah Thomas Robinson.

She is survived by her children: Lori (Darren) McClellan of Elberfeld, IN, and LaDonna (Mike Howard) Straw of Princeton, IN; her son-in-law, Randy Boyle of Owensville, IN; her grandchildren: Warren (Mia) Tenbarge, Allie (John) Mudgett, Shayna (Stripe) Boyle, Ryan (Sara) Kiefer, Jason (Amber) Boyle, Kimberlie (Justin) Robinson, Amy (Jordan) McClain, Coleman Sheridan, Clayton Sheridan, and Allison (Tiye) McClellan; and her great-grandchildren: Kaleb (Olivia) Curtice, Ayden, Ty, Jaxon K., Jaylen R., Payton, Aubrey, Isaac, Ellie Mae, Jaxon B., Brooklyn, Harley, Raelyn, Maeve, Chaz, Riggs, Jaylen P., Blaine, Macon, Silas, and Levi. The family will welcome her first great-great-grandchild, Kai Micah Curtice, in November.
