Obituary

Edward Peter Emge, 94 ,of Fort Branch, IN, passed away December 5, 2011 at Newburgh Healthcare in Newburgh IN. Edward was born in Haubstadt, IN on June 22, 1917 to the late Oscar and Theresa (Greubel) Emge. He was the oldest of the third generation of the former Emge Meat Packing Co. in Fort Branch, and Anderson IN, having worked 50 plus years as a livestock buyer. He was a 75 year member of the Knights of Columbus # 2215 in Haubstadt IN and was a life member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus in Evansville, IN. He was a member of the Elks in Princeton IN, was a past Boy Scout master in Fort Branch, IN, and was a former member of the Evansville County Club. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Evansville IN. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Walter Emge and a sister, Mildred Chaille and sons in law Thomas Deters and Roger Oing. Edward is survived by his wife of 71 years Margery (Anslinger) Emge having wed on August 12, 1940 in Indianapolis IN at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Also surviving are his daughters, Sylvia Deters and Rebecca Oing (John) Kincaid and a son Timothy E (Mary) Emge, 6 grandchildren Erica, Hans, Heinrich, Heidi and Charles Deters and Nathaniel Emge. 3 great grandchildren, Shaw and Sydney Harley Deters, two sisters Mary Jane Busing and Barbara Jean Bender. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted by Father Tony Ernst on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum will follow. Visitation will be on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy 168 West in Fort Branch, IN and again from 9:00 am till 10:30 am on Saturday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited by the church parish Friday evening at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1236 Lincoln Ave, Evansville IN 47714.
