Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Catherine Wilzbacher, 89, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on October 25, 2025, at North River Health Campus in Evansville, IN. She was born to the late John and Mary (Trapp) Offerman in Armstrong, IN, on December 10, 1935.

Betty was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the St. Bernadette Auxiliary, and was a former 4-H leader. She graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1953.She became an insurance agent and worked for over 50 years for several insurance agencies. She married Austin "Ozzie" Wilzbacher on August 3, 1957, and together they had five children. Betty had a deep interest in her family's history and genealogy.

In addition to her parents, John and Mary Offerman, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Austin "Ozzie" Wilzbacher; brother, John Offerman; sister, Marian Offerman; and grandchildren, Morgan and Hunter Wilzbacher.

Betty is survived by her children, Paul (Carol) Wilzbacher of Evansville, IN; James Wilzbacher of Haubstadt, IN; Alan (Kristi) Wilzbacher of Evansville, IN; Daniel Wilzbacher of Haubstadt, IN; and Angela Greene of Evansville, IN; sister, Sister Barbara Ann Offerman of Ferdinand, IN; sisters-in-law, Mayta Offerman of Evansville, IN, Arliene Steckler of Haubstadt, IN, and Rita Morris of Evansville, IN; Janet Wilzbacher of Indianapolis,  IN; grandchildren, Brandi (Darren) Cloud, Lory (Dakota) Ricker, Lesley (Adam) Gambrel, Bo Wilzbacher, BreeAna (Kyle) Kempf, Lyndsey (Devin) Holzmeyer, Collin (Kelsie) Wilzbacher, Lacey (Kasey) Kramer, Brock Wilzbacher, Bryn Wilzbacher, Macy Wilzbacher, and Bradee Wilzbacher; 15 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff at North River Health Campus—including Kim, Leslie, Dawn, Frank, and Lacy—for their compassionate care of Betty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, with Father Andrew Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, and again on Friday, October 31, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass time at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A rosary and prayer service, led by the St. Bernadette Auxiliary, will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Committal and burial will follow Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to the Sisters of St. Benedict or to the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be shared at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
