Elvira Norma Kiefer, 98, formerly of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on February 9, 2023, at Heritage Center in Evansville, IN. She was born to the late Victor and Emma Lorene (Schultheis) Meny on January 6, 1925 in Haubstadt, IN.
Elvira was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Women's Auxiliary of the VFW post #2714, Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion post #194, St. Bernadette Auxiliary #280 and The Haubstadt Area Historical Society.
She was a bookkeeper for Hoosier Cardinal, Meny's Store, and Harry Martin Oil. In her free time, she loved family gatherings, traveling, playing cards and doing puzzles.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Kiefer; her second husband, Jack Neidig; Son-In-Law, Lyndell Karaff; and her siblings, Mary Magdalen Meny, Kenneth "Bud" Meny, Gerald "Curly" Meny, Dorothy Hamerin, Annalee Lannert, and Imelda Balbach.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Corky) Ruiz of Albuquerque, NM, Howard (Jane Ann) Kiefer of Cynthiana, IN, Suzanne Kiefer of Evansville, IN, Bridget (Don) Richardson of Fort Branch, IN, Joyce (Kurt) Veerkamp of Albuquerque, NM, Keith Kiefer of Fort Branch, IN, and Beth (Neal) Carlton of Mebane, NC; siblings, Wilma Reidford of Evansville, IN, Charles (Ross) Meny of Evansville, IN, Bernenice Price of Evansville, IN, Eugene "Gene" Meny of Haubstadt, IN, and Joanne (Ed) Lamey of Haubstadt, IN; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until mass time. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America Indiana Chapter, PO Box 40464, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
