Obituary

Estella C. Elpers, 101, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Heim) Yellig on July 5, 1909 in Mariah Hill, IN. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, where she was a member of the Holy Cross Altar Society, she was also a member of the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW). Besides her parents Estella is also preceded in death by her husband Clemens Elpers on Feb.24, 1999, a son and daughter Robert Elpers in 1977 and Alberta Eaton in 2001. Also preceded are 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Norbert, Vernon (Leroy), and Jerome Yellig, Helen Neale and Dorothy Meredith. Estella is survived by 4 sons, William (Joyce) Elpers of Louisville, KY, Thomas Elpers of Spartansburg, S.C., Joseph Daniel (Vicki) Elpers of Haubstadt, IN, and Paul (Martha) Elpers of Evansville, IN, a brother and a sister, Earl Yellig of Evansville, IN, and Virginia Fowler of Evansville, IN, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec.8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Father Tony Ernst the celebrant, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, where a rosary will be recited by the church parish at 7:30 P.M.. The family request that donations be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church or to Deaconess Hospice.
