Frank Joseph Silva, 79, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on October 30, 2024, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born to the late Joseph Frank and Le Ana Theresa (Schara) Silva on November 18, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN.
Frank entered the U.S. Army 101st Airborne in 1963 and served for 3 years. He married his loving wife, Roberta Elizabeth Obert, on August 19, 1967, and they had 3 children. He worked at Emge Meat Packing for over 15 years before becoming an owner/operator for Obert and Silva Farms which he has co-owned for over 40 years. Frank was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Snake Run, VFW post #2714, American Legion post #194, Gibson County Health Board, and did maintenance for St. Bernard Catholic Church for years. Frank with Roberta were also a recipient of the Brute Award through the Catholic Church. In his free time, Frank loved to "tinker" in his garage, hunt waterfowl with his hunting dogs whom he loved dearly, and fish. He was a constant jokester who was truly one of a kind.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Roberta Silva; father, Joseph Silva; mother, Le Ana (Clifton) Jallo; and brother, Phillip Silva.
Frank is survived by his children, Joe (Amy) Silva, James (Stephanie) Silva, and Father John Silva; siblings, Richard Silva and De Ana Silva; grandchildren, Damian (Kelsey) Silva, Abigale (Juwan) Morgan, Annabelle Silva, Blake Silva, Brooke Silva, Nicole Richter, Hailey Richter, and Jake Richter; 1 great grandchild on the way; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Chris Forler and Father John Silva as co-celebrants. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be visitation from 9:00 a.m. until mass time on Monday at the church. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery with a military honors service performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bernard Cemetery Fund, Gibson Southern Scholarships, or Linda E. White Hospice House. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
