Genevieve M. Blackard, 92, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at River Oaks Health Center in Princeton, IN.  She was born on Jan. 5, 1922 in Fort Branch, IN to the late Ira and Vada (Hickrod) Adams.

Genevieve lived in Fort Branch her entire life. She was a lifelong member of the Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton, IN where she served as pianist for many years. She graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1940 and was valedictorian of her graduating class. Genevieve retired as Postal Clerk at the Fort Branch Post Office in 1980 after 37 ½ years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth V. Blackard, whom she had been married to for 65 years. They enjoyed many years at their winter home in Leesburg, Florida.

Genevieve is survived by a son Brent Blackard of Lebanon, TN, and 4 grandchildren, Scott, Rodney, Lindsay, and Sean Blackard, and cousins Charles and Betty Adams of Fort Branch, Indiana and Betty Jo Adams of Evansville, Indiana.

Services will be on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at 2:00 PM at The Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating, burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home on Friday.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton, IN.
