Henry Arthur Rexing, 90, of Fort Branch, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 4, 2025. He was born to the late Leo and Cecilia (Bultman) Rexing on March 27, 1934, in Inglefield, IN.
Henry was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, American Legion post #194, Fort Branch VFW #2714, New Harmony Keck-Gonnerman Club, Boonville Antique and Steam Engine Club, Princeton Antique Club, and a former Grand Knight of the Knights of St. John. He was a lifetime farmer, veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a recipient of the Brute Award, and was on the Honor Flight in April of 2023. He married the love of his life, Rosaline Meny, on July 2, 1955 and together they had 7 beautiful children. They had 68 wonderful years together before Rosie passed away on December 5, 2023.
Besides his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his siblings, Irma (Wilfred) Schmitt, Joseph (Lorene) Rexing, Walter (Rose) Rexing, Cletus (Matilda) Rexing and Loretta (Ralph) Koester; a sister-in-law, Imogene Rexing; and a brother-in-law, Homer Skaggs.
He is survived by his children, Theresa Buente of Fort Branch, Marilyn (Larry) Adamson of Fort Branch, Patricia (Jerry) Hale of Owensville, Margaret Rexing of Owensville, Larry (Kerri) Rexing of Fort Branch, Ellen (Joey) Ricker of Owensville and Darrell (Becky) Rexing of Fort Branch; siblings, Ralph Rexing of Evansville, Bernard (Kim) Rexing of James Port, MO, Clara (Harold) Gries of Newburgh, and Helen Skaggs of Evansville; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild expected to be born any day, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Stodghill Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Recitation of the rosary and prayer service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. performed by the Knights of St. John. Military Honors will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery and be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. Entombment and committal services will be held at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Holy Cross Cemetery following mass. Donations in his honor can be made to the Lord's Pantry in Fort Branch.
