Jack Barnett Evans, 88, of Owensville, IN, passed away at Wabash General Hospital on Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was born to the late Leonard Evans and Ethel (Whitman) Matthews on July 30, 1935, in Arthur, IN.

Jack served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961, when he married the love of his life, Betty Lou Smith on October 15, 1961. He enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work including taking care of his garden. He was a lover of animals, a real "Civil War Buff", and was an IU basketball fan.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Lou Evans; and his siblings, Richard "Dick" Evans, and "Shonett" Marian Cecil.

Jack is survived by his son, Brian (Michelle) Evans of Owensville, IN, and a grandson, Kyle Evans.

Graveside services will be private per family request. The burial will be at Clark Cemetery in Owensville, IN. Donations in his honor can be made to the Dementia Society of America. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
