Obituary

Jack Nicholas Field, 70, of Haubstadt, passed away on March 28, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Jack was born on June 14,1954 to the late Gene and Dorothy (Greubel) Field.

Jack was a 1972 graduate of Haubstadt High School and a lifetime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He found fulfillment in serving others, volunteering at The Lord's Pantry and advocating for the Indiana Donor Network. Jack was also a member of the USI Respiratory Advisory Board.

After a long career with the Operating Engineers, Local 181—a job Jack genuinely loved—he retired in 2015 when he received a life-saving lung transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a gift that gave him nearly 10 additional years with his family.

Jack loved vacationing with his family and friends, especially when it involved boating or spending time on the water. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, poker nights, rides on his golf cart in Haubstadt, and never missed a chance to attend his grandkids' sporting events. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren with treats.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Sandra Schmitt, Charlie Field, Mark Field, and Marcia Scott.

Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sara (Lamey) Field, and their children: Abby (Adam) Adler, Stephanie (Jarrod) West, and Aaron (Sarah) Field. He was a proud and loving Papaw to Jackson, Eden, and Camden Adler, as well as Jonathan and Ellison Field.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt at 10:00 a.m. with Father Andrew Thomas as celebrant. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until mass time at the church. Recitation of the rosary and Knights of Columbus prayer service will be on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal and burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Donations in his honor can be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or The Lord's Pantry.
