James Dea Dunning (Doogie), 75, of Haubstadt, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family and friends on September 13, 2025.
Born July 14, 1950, in Evansville to the late John and Doris Maxine (Parker) Dunning, Doogie graduated from Haubstadt Community High School in 1968. He married Rhonda Dunning (McClarney) on December 11, 1996, who survives him after 28 years of marriage. Doogie was deeply devoted to the Haubstadt community, working as Street and Water Superintendent for 40 years. He enjoyes telling stories and spending time with family and friends. Doogie was known for enjoying social gatherings at Carriage Inn and pursuing his passion for hunting. He held life membership in the NRA and was an active member of VFW Post #2714.
In addition to his parents, Doogie was preceded in death by his brother, John Dunning.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Dunning of Haubstadt; three stepchildren: Traci McClarney of Evansville, Michael (Jayna) McClarney of Haubstadt, and Timothy (Nichole) McClarney of Evansville; nine step-grandchildren: Daryl, Jordan, Brandon, Samantha, Abby, Conner, Landon, Gavin, and Will; nine step-great grandchildren; and several cousins.
Rhonda Dunning extends sincere appreciation to John Speer, Joey Davis, Mike McClarney, Tim McClarney, Larry Naas, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their support during Doogie's final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Dunning residence in Haubstadt from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
