James Frank Hirsch, 90, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at his home on July 22, 2024. He was born to the late Frank and Marie (Woehler) Hirsch on February 15, 1934, in Haubstadt.
James was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cursillo, and the Knights of Columbus in Haubstadt. He graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1952 and entered into the United States Army in 1956. He worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 45 years. James married his loving wife, Virginia, on February 3, 1959, and they had 5 beautiful children. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by 8 of his siblings.
James is survived by his lovely wife of 65 years, Virginia Hirsch of Haubstadt; children, Donna Hirsch of Fort Branch, Charlie (Tammy) Hirsch of Haubstadt, Tony (Michele) Hirsch of Fort Branch, Debbie (Ron) Elpers of Fort Branch, and Tom (Kristy) Hirsch of Haubstadt; siblings, Frankie (Dee) Hirsch of Boonville and Eileen Young of Evansville; sister-in-law, Margie Fuhs of Fort Branch; grandchildren, Tina (Josh) Lowe, Josh (Devon) Bittner, Alex (Renee) Hirsch, Clara Hirsch, James Hirsch, Lori (Anthony) Keil, Brittany (Stefan) Jackson, and Ryan (Molly) Elpers; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Andrew Thomas and Father Phillip Rogier as co-celebrants. There will be no visitation prior to mass at the church. There will be a recitation of the rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a military walkthrough prior to mass. Visitation will be on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with a rosary service by the Knights of Columbus performed at 2:30 p.m. Military Honors will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
