The Rev. Jesse H. Jackson, 82, of Owensville, Ind. passed away Monday Aug. 15, 2011. Born Feb. 22, 1939 in Carlisle, Ind., he was the son of Albert and Ida Mae (Riggle) Jackson. He married Vivian (Louks) Jackson June 26, 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy at Patuxent River Naval Air Warfare Center, on the Chesapeake Bay, from 1948-50. He began his ministerial work in Lafayette at the Schylar Avenue Wesleyan Church in 1956. He continued to serve the Lord by pastoring Wesleyan churches in the Indiana of: Beaver Creek, Warsaw, Fountain City, Fort Wayne, Westfield, Kokomo, Elwood and Kirklin. He retired from the ministry in July 1995 and resided in Thorntown until moving to Owensville in 2003. He attended Frankfort Pilgrim College and was ordained by the Wesleyan Church in 1962. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Joyce Harris of Thorntown, Sharon (Paul) Bankert of Zionsville, Margaret (Dave) Miller of Owensville and Donna (Scott) Imel of Anderson; sister, Inez (Jackson) Morgan of Plainfield; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St. in Sheridan. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at Kirklin Wesleyan Church, 418 E. Pike St. in Kirklin. Interment will be at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery in Bicknell, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wesleyan Church in Kirklin or Fort Branch, Indiana.
