JoAnn Valada Hickrod

JoAnn Valada Hickrod, 95, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on October 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 28, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Joe and Alma (Kuester) Broerman.

Above all, JoAnn was devoted to her family. She lived in Darmstadt for many years before meeting the love of her life, Edward. They married on May 15, 1954, and moved to Evansville, Indiana. Edward’s career took the family to several communities. After his retirement, they settled in Lebanon, Indiana. JoAnn enjoyed dancing, country music, and playing the piano, a talent at which she excelled.

JoAnn is survived by her two loving children, Rita Hickrod of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Keith Hickrod of Lebanon, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Hickrod, and six siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Haubstadt, with Father Andrew Thomas officiating.
