Joanna Maikranz, 94, formerly of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN, on December 29, 2023. She was born to the late Walter and Mary (Wilkins) Freudenberg on January 8, 1929, in Fort Branch, IN.

Joanna was a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Francisco, IN. She was also a member of the Lady's Quilting Aid at Providence Church. She enjoyed quilting and playing bingo. The staff and residents at River Oaks would always get a kick out of her sayings, "Shoot a Monkey!", "Fiddle Faddle!", and "Life is tedious".

The family would like to thank River Oaks Health Campus staff and Gentiva Hospice for the care and respect that was shown to Joanna.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Maikranz; and siblings, Robert Freudenberg and Sue DeShields.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Carl) Shomate of Oakland City, IN and Marcia (Garry) Hall of Fort Branch, IN; siblings, Charles (Linda) Freudenberg of Haubstadt, IN, Roy (Becky) Freudenberg of Fort Branch, IN, and Anna Louise Kempf of Fort Branch, IN; grandchildren, Dustin (Susan) Hall and Donovan (Mariah) Hall; and great grandchildren, Adam and Amelia Hall.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Elder Mitch Breidenbaugh officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Francisco, IN, following the service.
