John Leslie Conner, 88, of Princeton, IN, formerly of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at his home on April 27, 2024. He was born to the late John and Mary (DeVault) Conner on October 23, 1935, in Fort Branch, IN. John was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch. He worked as a conductor on the railroad for 38 years and retired from CSX in 1997. He married his loving wife Rosemary on April 14, 1956. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time at the lake house on Lake Barkley in Kentucky, fishing, hunting, and gardening vegetables. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant children; and his brother, Jerry Conner. John is survived by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Rosemary (Martin) Conner of Princeton, IN; children, Tamara (Del) Hust of Henderson, KY, Les (Janet "Bug") Conner of Petersburg, IN, and Monica (Brett) Wayman of Oakland City, IN; grandchildren, Joshua (Laura) Burke, Brian (Jessica) Conner, Ashley (Kevin) Sherron, Brandon (MaKlaine) Conner, Corey (Niki) Wayman, and Lance (Kourtni) Wayman; and great grandchildren, Ava, Kayleigh, Brynleigh, Kaisleigh, Avery, Nolan, Jackson, Oaklee, Ivy Lou, Lucy, Drake, Addison, Luke, and Colton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home and again on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until mass time at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Recitation of the rosary lead by Father Gary Kaiser will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Stodghill Funeral Home. The burial and committal service will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
