John Dale Henry, age 81, of Owensville, IN, passed away at Transcendent Health Care in Owensville on November 12, 2025. Born on October 4, 1944, in Lawrenceville, IL, he was the son of Hugh and Georgia (Compton) Henry.

Dale was a member of the Owensville General Baptist Church and served honorably as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He previously held a position at the Princeton Telephone Company and dedicated 33 years to Walmart, where he progressed from management to a role in security and door greeter. His community engagement included service as a Special Deputy for both Owensville and Gibson County in the 1970s, nine years as Owensville Town Marshal, and over three decades as a member of the Owensville Fire Department. Dale also participated competitively in horseshoe throwing, attaining the distinction of Indiana State Champion, and enjoyed maintaining his yard. He was fond of his dog, Lady.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse of 48 years, Edith Ellen (Leister) Henry; and his brother, Richard Henry.

Survivors include his children: Linda Henry of Owensville, Georgia (Tommy) Straw of Owensville, Lorri (Todd) Kennedy of Cynthiana, and Rick (Rachael) Henry of Princeton; nine grandchildren: Ashley (Logan) Morton, Kyle and Lexi Henry, Tanner (McKenna) Straw, Tyler and Mya Straw, Dalton, Dillon, and Gage Wright; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside military honors will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Owensville Cemetery, with services rendered by the Veterans of Gibson County and committal performed by Pastor Michael Moran.
