John E. Matsel, 74, of Patoka, IN, passed away on Feb. 4, 2017 at Specialty Select Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born to the late Carl E. and Mildred (Robb) Matsel on Apr. 16, 1942 in Princeton, IN,

John was retired from Snap on Tool in Mt. Carmel, IL, and Mid-states Rubber in Princeton, IN.  He was a member of the Old Time Auto Club.  John loved gardening and wood working.

Besides his parents, John is also preceded in death by a brother, Ron Matsel.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Ann Matsel in Patoka, IN, a daughter, Sheila Whitehead of Evansville, IN, a step-son, Tom Adams of Chattanooga, TN, 5 sisters, Louise Lamey of Evansville, IN, Ruth McDaniels of Owensboro, KY, Peggy Riley of Oakland City, IN, Judy Bobbitt and Malissa Linder both of Princeton, IN.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Stodghill Funeral Home on Saturday Feb. 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev, Floyd Williams and Rev. Mike Douglas officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.  The family wishes that any donations be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
