Obituary

John Edward McKinney, 72, of Princeton, IN, passed away on November 22, 2023, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born to the late Harold Edward and Paulene (Parsons) McKinney on March 12, 1951, in Somerset, KY.

John graduated from Memorial High School Waynesburg, KY in 1969. He married his beautiful wife Glenda Marlene Sims in July of 1969, and they had 3 beautiful children. He began working for Duke Energy in 1978 and retired in 2013 after 35 years of faithful service. He was a member of Princeton Masonic Lodge NO 231 and the IBEW Local Union 16. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, traveling, the casino, target shooting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Cody McKinney in January of 2021; his brother, James "Jimmy" Spears; and his grandmother, Molly Parsons.

John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Glenda Marlene (Sims) McKinney of Princeton, IN; daughters, Amanda (Lee) Camp of Whitesburg, GA and Reyna (Chris) Schaefer of Fort Branch, IN; sisters, Marchetta (Howard) Turpin of Somerset, KY and Tonya (Jeff) Murphy of Waynesburg, KY; grandchildren, Jared Lee Camp, Justin Roy Camp, Shelby Schaefer, and Jackson Schaefer; great grandchild, Hadley Claire Esarey; and his son's beloved dog, Cleo.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Douglas and Nick Johns officiating at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 11:30 a.m. prior to visitation. The burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Owensville, IN following services at the funeral home. Donations in his honor can be made to the Linda E. White Hospice House.
