Joyce Wilson, 88, of Owensville, IN, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 21,2023. She was born to Albert and Kathryn (Robinson) Garrett on January 16, 1935. She was married to her high school sweetheart Paul "Red" Wilson for over 50 years before his passing on June 29, 2008.

Joyce was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Owensville. She worked for the Owensville Lumber Yard and later at Holder's Furniture Store as a bookkeeper. She and Red bought the Owensville Florist with partners Kenny and Billie Sharp and retired from that business. She and Red enjoyed square dancing, going on vacation with friends and being with their grandchildren. Joyce was witty and smart and fun to be around. Even when the dementia started taking her memory, the wit and fun side was not diminished, and she was not afraid to speak her mind. She was a great mom and even greater grandma. She always made the dumplings for family gatherings for which we were all grateful.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Gerald Garrett, and Cody Garrett; sister, Louanna Johnson; sister-in-law, Margaret Garrett; and brother-in-law, Johnny Johnson.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Mark) Kendle; granddaughter, Elizabeth Spangler (Jonathan Wells); grandson, Cliff Spangler (Julie); great granddaughter, Karlyn; and great grandson, Hans. She is also survived by her brothers, Ray (Sharon) Garrett, Dean (Kathie) Garrett; and sister-in-law, Helen Garrett who all loved her dearly. She also has many nieces and nephews who cherish their memories of her.

A special heartfelt thank you to the staff of River Oaks Health Campus who cared for Joyce so well all these years. The staff at Heart to Heart Hospice were also a comfort and a blessing during Joyce's last few months. The family appreciates all who took the time to love her.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The burial will be at Owensville Cemetery following the funeral service.
