Obituary

Judy Overton, 56, died on April 28,2014 in a pitched battle with Orcs (actually she died of complications of Multiple System Atrophy). She was born in Evansville, grew up in rural Posey County and Fort Branch and graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1976. She worked in the Quality department at Bristol-Myers Squibb for 35 years where she tried for years to teach computer skills to quality control geeks (with limited success). She loved gardening, crafting, working on her home and spending time with her extended family. She loved animals, frequently cursed like a sailor, loved listening to Mark Knopfler play guitar, had a quirky sense of humor, loved to read and watch good movies, and enjoyed solving problems of all types. She wanted to express her undying love and gratitude to family and friends who helped so much with deeds, thoughts and prayers. Her surviving family includes her mother Hannelore ("Lou") Overton of Fort Branch, her son Tom (Trisha) Arendell and grandson Neal of Oakland City, IN. She is also survived by siblings Laurie Schaefer (fiancé Randy Joiner) of Fort Branch, Rita (John) Schmitt of St Philips, IN, Mary (Roger) Padgett of Washington, IN, and Michael (Crickett) Overton of Fort Branch; beloved nieces and nephew: Lyndsey Schaefer, Melanie and Shelley Schmitt, Claudia and Malina Padgett, Brandon and Kaylie Overton; her beloved dog Pippin and cat Bilbo (she did love JRR Tolkien). She was preceded in death by her father, Malcolm Overton who has been missed for 35 years. Visitation will be at Stodghill Funeral Home on Thursday May 1,2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and a service will take place on Friday May 2,2014 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Bethsaida Cemetery in Stewartsville, IN. In lieu of flowers, try doing secret good deeds for those in need with the hope they will follow and "pay it forward" to someone else in need. Memorial contributions to Mayo Clinic, VNA Plus Homecare & Hospice, or the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition would also be welcomed. Condolences may be made online at www.stodghillfuneralhome.com
