Kevin Ray Maurer, 51, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away December 15th, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, from Leukemia. He was born March 6th, 1960, to William and Lillian Maurer in Haubstadt, IN. He was married on September 19th, 1981, to Julia (Julie) Michelle Jackson of Fort Branch, IN. Kevin was a 1978 graduate of Gibson Southern High School and he currently worked for US Airways in Charlotte, North Carolina, for 28 years. He was a member of Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Fort Mill, SC. Kevin enjoyed playing golf with his co-workers and friends and especially had a passion for keeping his yard green. He enjoyed social time with his neighbors, playing dominoes and cornhole, and watching college football. He was and will always be an avid fan of Notre Dame football. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julie (Jackson) Maurer, his three wonderful daughters, Lindsey Maurer(Brian) Bertges, Tara Suzanne Maurer, and Amber Kathleen Maurer, and close family friend Bradley Blanks, all of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Also surviving him are: his mother Lillian Maurer of Haubstadt, siblings, Thomas(Donna) Maurer, Terry(Joann) Maurer, Keith(Karen) Maurer, Kent(Erin) Maurer, Alice(Fred) Blankenberger, Traci(Scott) Lewis, and Julie(Tim) Rexing, all of Haubstadt, Kelly(Amy) Maurer of St. Joseph, Jane Ann(Rodger) Cox of Evansville, Susan(Larry) Schmitt and Peggy(Dennis) Schmitt of Poseyville. Preceding him in death are his father, William Theodore Maurer and twin daughter, Tessa Erin Maurer. Visitation will be held at the Sts. Peter and Paul Family Life Center on Monday, December 19th, from 1:00-8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, December 20th, from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Mass will begin, Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial immediately following. Kevin's family would like to invite you to a reception at the Family Life Center immediately following the burial. A celebration mass and reception will also be held on Thursday, December 22nd, at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina, for all of his family, co-workers, and friends we have been blessed with in the Carolinas. Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Ozanam Family Shelter, 110 Read St., Evansville, IN, 47710.
