Margaret L. McGuire, 101, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at the Sterling House in Evansville, IN. She was born on Aug. 12, 1912 in Shawneetown, IL, to the late Arthur and Luella (Coleman) Scates.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. McGuire in 1982.

She was a founding member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN.  She loved her gardening, Quilting, Sewing, and crocheting.

Margaret is survived by 3 children, Richard (Naomi) McGuire of Wichita, KS, Bill (Margaret) McGuire of Indianapolis, IN, and Sister Patricia Ann McGuire, OSB. of Evansville, IN.  She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Karen (Al) Rodriguez, Kevin (Amber) McGuire, and Carrie (Jason) Martin, 2 step grandchildren, BJ (Marci) Werne, and Mike (Natasha) Werne, 7 great grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, Father Tony Ernst and Father Sudhakar Bhastati will be co-celebrants.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, and again from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday.  A rosary will be recited by the church parish at 7:30 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home.  The family request donations be donated to the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand or Holy Cross Parish.
