Marian Theresa Obert, 98, of Fort Branch, passed away on September 5, 2026, at North River Health Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 8, 1928, in Armstrong, Indiana, to the late Rudolph and Catherine (Noelke) Hoefling.

Marian was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a former president of the Altar Society. She received the Brute Award and was a longtime member of Evansville Cursillo #9. A gifted cook and seamstress, Marian also volunteered at St. Mary’s and with hospice. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and vegetables, and landscaping, but her greatest joy was her family.

Marian is survived by her loving husband, Winfrid Obert of Fort Branch; her children, Michael (Johnna) Obert of Morganfield, KY, Anita (Michael) Norrick of Greenville, SC, Thomas Obert of Fort Branch, Steven (Kelly) Obert of Fort Branch, and Ann (Ron) Wiseman of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Obert, Kristine Obert, Ryley (Seth) Sanert, Benjamin (Jo-Anne) Norrick, Wesley (Reena) Obert, Klinton (Ericka) Obert, Mitchell Obert, Katie (Dillon) Turner, Lauren (Adam) Norris, Jessie Rose (Connor) Lowder, and Austin Wiseman; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and siblings, Evelyn Temme and Rudolph Hoefling, both of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Fred Hoefling, Lorine Rexing, Joann Haas, and Jeanette Lancaster; and grandchildren, Thomas Wiseman and Jessica Obert.

Marian’s family extends heartfelt thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and North River Health Campus for their excellent care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with Father Seejo Thandiakal officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, before visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Bernard Cemetery Fund or Heart to Heart Hospice. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
