Obituary

Martin "Marty" James Marginet, 61, of Owensville, IN, passed away on July 23, 2021. He was born to N. Sherrell and Jane (Hudelson) Marginet on August 27, 1959, in Evansville, IN.

Marty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Branch IN. He farmed his whole life for Marginet Farms and was a member of the Labor Union Local 561. He graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1977 and won many awards for playing in sports including baseball, football and wrestling. He was a FFA Member at Gibson Southern in southern judging teams, animal science and grains. He has shown cattle at many cattle shows including the Gibson County 4-H Fair.  The Marginet Farms award has been given for the Grand Champion beef heifer at the Gibson County Fair for many years. Marty handed out the award to the winner. As recently as last week he was in the show ring throughout the beef competition to help mentor 4H'ers with their animals. He was a 10-year member and exhibitor. He was an active participant with the Gibson County 4H beef show. Marty has shown cattle throughout his life. Marty was an avid sports fan. He was well versed in the players and team's statistics. He was well versed in trivia and factual knowledge.  Marty was a kidney transplant survivor who knew the value of family and friends. He was a loving father and could talk to anyone.

He is preceded in death by his father, N. Sherrell Marginet in 2011, His grandparents George (Maxine) Marginet and Robert (Eugenia) Hudelson.

He is survived by his mother, Jane Marginet of Fort Branch, IN; 3 children, Madison, Mason, and McKinlee Marginet of Owensville, IN; sister, Sherry (Steven) Michel of Fort Branch, IN; niece, Stacey Michel of Fort Branch, IN; nephew, Stuart (Krissie) Michel of Fort Branch, IN; and great nieces, Kaia Gerts, Sophie Gerts, and Kimber Michel.

Funeral Services will be on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend John Baylor officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church with burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch to follow. Donations in his honor can be made to the First United Methodist Church, the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
