Obituary

Martin Otto Lindauer, 90, of Fort Branch, IN passed away at his residence on October 5, 2024.

Martin was born on November 5, 1933 to the late Leonard and Rosa (Sermersheim) Lindauer in St. Henry, IN.

On July 2, 1955, he married the love of his life Mildred Schaefer and they had 8 children together. Over Martin's lifetime, he worked for the Emge Meat Packing Company for 38 years, Town of Fort Branch, and as a janitor for Holy Cross Catholic School.  Martin was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Haubstadt Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Knights of America in St. Henry, the Haubstadt Knights of St. Johns, Holy Name Society at Holy Cross, and Fort Branch Little League. He was a recipient of the Brute Award at Holy Cross. Martin enjoyed spending time with his family as well as farming, gardening, and fishing.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Rita Neihaus; brothers, Father Prosper Lindauer, OSB, Linus Lindauer, Joe Lindauer, and Edwin Lindauer.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Lindauer; 8 children, Mark (Darla) Lindauer of Evansville, Martha Jean (Bill) Umbach of Evansville, Denny Lindauer of Fort Branch, Pat (Brian) Willett of Evansville, Mike (Becky) Lindauer of Fort Branch, Stan (Lori) Lindauer of Evansville, Tim (Cheryl) Lindauer of St Wendel, and Susan (Steve) Jenkins of Fort Branch; brothers, Willie (Dorthy) Lindauer of St Henry, and Norbert (Cecilia) Lindauer of St Henry; brother-in-law, Tony Harpenau of Fort Branch; sister-in-law, Phyllis Lindauer of Boonville; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with a rosary service by the Knights of St John and the Knights of Columbus performed at 3:30 p.m.   There will also be visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until mass time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church or Heart to Heart Hospice. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
