Obituary

Marvin "Max" Gentry, 78 of Fort Branch, IN passed away on March 10, 2011 at Indiana University Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on May 4, 1932, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Ralph and Maxine (Gwaltney) Gentry. Max was a retired Tool and Die Maker who worked for Faultless Caster and Industrial Tool and Die in Evansville, IN. Additionally, he served 38 yrs in the Indiana National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 yrs, Thelma (Klusmeier) Gentry, a son James Bradley Gentry; and a daughter, Pamela June Gentry. Also, a sister, Joy Anne (Gentry) Wilhite and a brother, Robert Allen Gentry. Max is survived by his son, Jeff Gentry of Frederick, Maryland; son Tony Gentry and daughter Julia Rae Gentry, both of Fort Branch; a brother Ralph Gentry of Lafayette, IN; 3 sisters, Jane Gentry Shackelford of Owensville, IN; Judi Gentry Wilkerson of Brownsburg, IN; and Jill Gentry Larson of Princeton IN. and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of the Life of Max Gentry will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 18, 2011 at St Stephens Church in Warrenton IN with Dr James Cramer, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch on Thursday evening March 17. Military services will be conducted at the graveside on Friday by the Indiana National Guard. The family request that donations be made to the Gibson Southern High School Athletics Department. Max was an avid Supporter of Gibson Southern Sports especially the Lady Titans softball and basketball teams.
