Mary John Reed, 94, of Duncan OK, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Stepping Stone Rehabilitation in Marlow, OK.

A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN. at 11:00 AM.  There will be no visitation.

Mary John was born, February 1, 1922 in Owensville, IN to Charles and Susan (Garrett) Roberts.  She attended Owensville High School and worked as an executive secretary for Sears Sales/Whirlpool in Owensville, retiring in 1985 after 35 years of service.  She married William Harold Reed on May 30, 1942 in Branson, MO, and he preceded her in death in February of 2003.

After her retirement in 1985, Mary John and Harold moved to Bradenton, FL and lived there until Harold's death in 2003.  At that time she decided to move closer to her nephew and niece Ross and Frances Coleman in Duncan, OK.

Mary John excepted Jesus as her savior as a young girl and was baptized in a creek in Owensville, IN.  She attended First Baptist Church in Duncan, OK and considered that her home.

Mary John is survived by one sister, Irene Brower of Grand Rapids, MI. and several nieces and nephews, including Frances Coleman of Duncan, OK.

Besides her parents and her husband, she is also preceded in death by an infant son, who died in 1946, three sisters, Eloise Young, Lillian Redman, Fannie Coleman, and one brother, Roy Garrett.  Donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, 901 W. Ash, Duncan, OK 73533.
