Melvin E Goedde, age 78, of Fort Branch, IN passed away July 8, 2010 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, IN. Melvin was born on October 25, 1931 in Evansville IN to the late Alois and Yolanda (Tieken) Goedde. He was a Member of Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch, was a Truck Driver for Emge Meat Packing and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs, Norma (Baehl) Goedde of Fort Branch IN, 5 Children and their spouses, Vernon (Jeanne) Goedde of Evansville, IN, Doris (Terry) Stolz of Oakland City IN, Charles (Margaret) Goedde of Springville, IN, Glen (MaryAnn) Goedde of Brownsburg IN and Jane (Phillip) Vinson of Cincinnati OH. Melvin is also survived by 4 brother and 6 sisters Henrietta Kissel of Evansville, IN, Alvina Titzer of Daylight IN, Mary Martin of Mackey, IN, Vincent Goedde of Haubstadt IN, Antoinette Kissel of Haubstadt IN, Esther Petrig of Evansville IN, Ethelene Petrig of Evansville IN, Edwin Goedde of Mt Vernon IN, Jerome Goedde of Evansville IN, Daniel Goedde of Boonville, IN, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by a brother Alois Goedde Jr and 2 sisters Emerita Ford and Marcella Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday July 12, 2010 at 11 am at the Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch with Father Tony Ernst officiate. Melvin will lie in state at the church prior to the services and there will be a Rosary recited prior to mass starting at 10:35 AM. Military Services will be conducted by the VFW Post 2714 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Branch IN. Visitation for Melvin will be on Sunday from 2 to 8 pm with a prayer service conducted at 7:30 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch. Donations maybe made to the Peru Missions and the Holy Cross Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
