A proud graduate of Indiana University, Mick earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business, where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his athletic talents playing baseball for the Hoosiers. His love for sports remained a defining feature throughout his life. He later retired from Orion, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication. Beyond his career, he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, reflecting his deep roots within the community.
Beloved husband for 22 years to Nancy Blackard, Mick was a devoted family man who cherished his close relationships. He is survived by his children, Lana (Kevin) Yancey and Cody (Laura) Blackard, both of Haubstadt, Indiana, and his step-son, Colby (Mary Shafer) Fisher of Largo, Florida. His legacy extends through his grandchildren Aubrey and Austin Yancey, Everly and Brooks Blackard, Thomas (Celeste) Whittington, and Kazdyn Fisher, with one great-grandchild joyfully expected soon. He also leaves behind his brother, William (Joanie) Blackard of Evansville.
Mick was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clifford and Nina (White) Blackard, as well as his sister Peggy Ann Bruce and brother Larry Blackard. Their memory remained a guiding light throughout his life.
