N. Kenneth Overton, 84, of Fort Branch, IN, went home to be with the lord on Wed. Jan. 11, 2011 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, IN. He was born on Mar. 2, 1926 in Gibson Co. IN to the late Alfred and Retha Overton. Kenny was a member of the Fort Branch General Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon and Sunday school superintendant. He was a member of the Carpenters Local # 90 for 42 years. Kenny was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters. Kenny is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Stone) Overton of Fort Branch, a daughter, Kenya A. (Jim) Wade of Fort Branch, 2 grandchildren, Jason (Bridget) Wade and Aaron Wade, and 2 great grandchildren, Sydney Noel Palmer, Embree Wade. Services for Kenny will be on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, Rev, Steve Akins and Rev, Tarrell Thompson will officiate. Vistation will be on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. VFW Post #2714 and American Legion Post # 194 will conduct military rites at the graveside. The family request that Memorial contributions be made to the Fort Branch General Church.
