Norman A. Rexing, 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away at his home on Monday, October 24, 2022. He was born to the late Joseph and Florence (Laugel) Rexing on May 12, 1931, in Vanderburgh County Indiana.
Norman was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt and attended St. James School. He was born on the farm and continued farming corn, wheat, soybean, and clover his entire life. He was also a carpenter and retired from Whirlpool after 25 years. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. James Men's Club, VFW post #2714, and American Legion post #194. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and going hunting and trapping.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gene C. Rexing.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Irma (Wilzbacher) Rexing; children, Dr. Ron (Jane) Rexing of Haubstadt, IN and Donna (Gene) Kiesel of Fort Branch, IN; sibings, Kathryn Fuhs of Fort Branch, IN, Francis Rexing of Evansville, IN, Charles Rexing of Evansville, IN, and Jim Rexing of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Robert (Bethany) Rexing of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa (Zach) Taylor of Haubstadt, IN, Becky (Jeremy) Mann of Haubstadt, IN, Shelly (Corey) Heldt of Fort Branch, IN, and Amanda Kiesel of Fort Branch, IN; great grandchildren, Meredith, Henry, and Ruth Mann, Elliott and Rachel Rexing, and Aubrey and Jenna Heldt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt with Father Kenneth Betz as celebrant. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch and again on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at St. James Catholic Church. Rosary services will be performed by the Knights of Columbus on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home. Military Honors services will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County at St. James Cemetery following mass. Mass will be livestreamed on St. James Catholic Church Facebook page. Donations in his honor can be made to the St. James Catholic Church and School. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
